To whom was referred a Joint Resolution (H. 4961), to adopt revised Code Volume 5 of the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, to the extent of its contents, as the only general permanent statutory law of the State as of January 1, 2000, etc., respectfully

REPORT:

That they have duly and carefully considered the same, and recommend that the same do pass:

A JOINT RESOLUTION

TO ADOPT REVISED CODE VOLUME 5 OF THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, TO THE EXTENT OF ITS CONTENTS, AS THE ONLY GENERAL PERMANENT STATUTORY LAW OF THE STATE AS OF JANUARY 1, 2000.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. (A) Section 2-13-90 of the 1976 Code authorizes the Legislative Council and the Code Commissioner to contract to be prepared and published under their supervision and direction revised volumes of the Code of Laws when, in their judgment, the supplement of any volume becomes too bulky for convenient use.

(B) The Legislative Council and the Code Commissioner have determined that the cumulative supplement to Volume 5 has become too bulky for convenient use.

(C) Section 2-13-90 of the 1976 Code also provides that the revised volumes must be submitted to the General Assembly for its consideration.

SECTION 2. (A) Revised Volume 5, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, containing Title 12 is substituted for original Volume 5 containing the same title.

(B) Revised Volume 5 is adopted as part of the Code of Laws and to the extent of its contents the only general permanent statutory law of the State as of January 1, 2000.

SECTION 3. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
