A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND ONE OF SOUTH CAROLINA'S PreviousMOSTNext DISTINGUISHED PHYSICIANS AND SURGEONS, DR. CHARLES F. CREWS, FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF UNSELFISH AND DEVOTED SERVICE TO HIS PATIENTS, TO THE LEXINGTON MEDICAL CENTER AND ITS STAFF, AND TO HIS COMMUNITY.

Whereas, the members of the Senate join with countless others in Lexington County and throughout South Carolina in recognizing and commending one of our state's PreviousmostNext distinguished physicians and surgeons, Dr. Charles F. Crews, for his unselfish service to his patients, colleagues, and community; and

Whereas, he became a member of the medical staff of the then Lexington County Hospital at its inception in 1971, was instrumental in establishing the hospital's fine reputation and staff, served as its Vice Chief of Staff, and was appointed to the office of Honorary Chief of Staff upon his retirement; and

Whereas, few physicians have embodied the dictates of the Hippocratic oath, the official code attributed to the ancient Greek physician Hippocrates, which serves as a guide of conduct for the medical profession, as well as this outstanding South Carolinian; and

Whereas, one of his fellow physicians perhaps best characterized Dr. Crews when he observed that:

"In terms of ethics and standards, demeanor and lifestyle, he's the kind of person you want to try to emulate. He represents many qualities we strive for: honesty, generosity, forgiveness, kindness"; and

Whereas, the members of the Senate, by this resolution, would like to thank Dr. Charles F. Crews publicly for all that he's done for his profession, for his community, and especially for his hospital and patients, during his long and very distinguished career. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, hereby commend one of South Carolina's Previousmost distinguished physicians and surgeons, Dr. Charles F. Crews, for his many years of unselfish and devoted service to his patients, to the Lexington Medical Center and its staff, and to his community.
