A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE FURMAN UNIVERSITY, ONE OF THIS NATION'S MOST OUTSTANDING UNIVERSITIES, ON THE OCCASION OF ITS ONE HUNDRED SEVENTY-FIFTH PreviousANNIVERSARYNext THIS YEAR.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are pleased to learn that Furman University is celebrating its one hundred seventy-fifth PreviousanniversaryNext in fiscal year 2001-2002; and

Whereas, Furman has in recent years grown into a nationally recognized liberal arts institution that brings much honor and recognition to the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, many Furman graduates have made significant and long lasting contributions to the growth and development of the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, Furman and the State of South Carolina have long maintained a mutually supportive and complementary relationship; and

Whereas, the General Assembly, by this resolution, rejoices with Furman as the university celebrates its one hundred seventy-fifth PreviousanniversaryNext and eagerly anticipates many more years of progress, success, and collaboration. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly congratulate Furman University, one of this nation's most outstanding universities, on the occasion of its one hundred seventy-fifth Previousanniversary this year.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the President and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Furman University.
