FREEWILL BAPTIST CHURCH.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING ELDER KENNETH L. GIBSON OF FLORENCE COUNTY ON THE OCCASION OF HIS TWENTIETH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF THE SAVANNAH GROVE FREEWILL BAPTIST CHURCH.
Whereas, Elder Kenneth L. Gibson graduated from J. C. Lynch High School in Coward, South Carolina, and received a degree in Religion and Philosophy from Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina; and
Whereas, while obtaining his undergraduate degree, Elder Gibson cross-enrolled in South Carolina State University's Reserve Officers Training Corps Program and, upon graduation, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army Reserves, and later retired as a Captain with the United States Army Reserves; and
Whereas, as a youngster, he had a special relationship with the Lord and accepted his higher calling. For the past twenty-three years he has served as a minister, pastoring Savannah Grove Freewill Baptist Church for twenty years and Jordan Chapel Freewill Baptist Church for eleven years; and
Whereas, during his ministerial journey, Elder Gibson has traveled extensively throughout this country and abroad teaching and preaching God's word, as well as being instrumental in the development and implementation of building Christian alliances in Ocho Rios, St. Ann, Jamaica, and Costa Rica; and
Whereas, he has received numerous awards and recognitions which include a proclamation from the Honorable George M. McKelvery, Mayor of the City of Youngstown, Ohio, for his appearance as guest revivalist at the Holy Bible Church of God in August, 1998; and
Whereas, it has been brought to the attention of the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives that on July 20, 2002, the Savannah Grove Freewill Baptist Church will honor Elder Gibson by celebrating his twentieth anniversary of dedicated service as their pastor and spiritual leader. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate Elder Kenneth L. Gibson of Florence County on the occasion of his twentieth anniversary as Pastor of the Savannah Grove Freewill Baptist Church.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Elder Kenneth L. Gibson.
