AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 117 OF 1961 (SECTION 21-2173, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1962), AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE SCHOOL BOARD OF TRUSTEES OF COLLETON COUNTY, SO AS TO PROVIDE COMPENSATION TO MEMBERS ATTENDING SPECIAL MEETINGS IN THE AMOUNT OF FIFTY DOLLARS A MEETING BUT NOT TO EXCEED ONE THOUSAND, TWO HUNDRED DOLLARS A MEMBER PreviousANNUALLYNext.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Board of trustees

SECTION 1. Section 3 of Act 117 of 1961 (Section 21-2173 of the 1962 Code), as last amended by Act 53 of 1975, is further amended to read:

"Section 3. The board shall PreviousannuallyNext elect one of its members as chairman and another as vice-chairman. Persons holding such offices must be eligible to succeed themselves. The county superintendent of education shall, ex officio, act as secretary to the board, and is under the duty of keeping proper records for the board, including the minutes of its meetings. The board shall hold regular monthly meetings which must be open to the public, and special meetings at other times as may be necessary. The members of the board shall receive fifty dollars and the chairman thereof shall receive one hundred dollars a month for expenses. Members in attendance at a special meeting shall receive fifty dollars for such meeting but in no event shall the amount exceed one thousand, two hundred dollars Previousannually for each member."

Time effective

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor.
