AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-80, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO VOTING PRECINCTS IN ANDERSON COUNTY, SO AS TO REVISE THE VOTING PRECINCTS, PROVIDE FOR MAPS DEFINING THE REVISED PRECINCT BOUNDARIES, AND PROVIDE FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF POLLING PLACES.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina

Voting precincts in Anderson County

SECTION 1. Section 7-7-80 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 7-7-80. In Anderson County there are the following voting precincts: Appleton-Equinox, Barkers Creek, Belton, Bishop's Branch, Bowling Green, Broadview, Broadway, Brushy Creek, Cedar Grove, Centerville, Chiquola Mill, Concrete,Corner, Craytonville, Denver-Sandy Springs, Edgewood, Five Forks, Flat Rock, Fork No. 1,Fork No. 2, Friendship, Gluck Mill, Green Pond, Grove School, Hall, Hammond School, High Point,Homeland Park, Honea Path, Hopewell, Iva, Jackson Mill, LaFrance, Lakeside, McAdams, Melton, Mount Tabor, Mountain Creek, Neal's Creek, Orr Mill, Pelzer, Pendleton, Piedmont, Piercetown, Rock Mill, Rock Spring, Shirley's Store, Simpsonville, Starr, Three and Twenty, Toney Creek, Townville, Varennes, Walker-McElmoyle, West Pelzer, West Savannah, White Plains, Williamston, Williamston Mill, Wright's School, Ward 1 Precinct 1, Ward 1 Precinct 2, Ward 2 Precinct 1, Ward 2 Precinct 2, Ward 3 Precinct 1, Ward 3 Precinct 2, Ward 4 Precinct 1, Ward 4 Precinct 2, Ward 5 Precinct 1, Ward 5 Precinct 2, Ward 6 Precinct 1, Ward 6 Precinct 2.

The precinct lines defining the above precincts in Anderson County are as shown on the official map prepared by and on file with the Division of Research and Statistical Services of the State Budget and Control Board and as shown on certified copies of the official map provided to the State Election Commission and the Anderson County Board of Voter Registration by the division. The polling places for the precincts provided in this section must be established by the Anderson County Election Commission subject to the approval of the majority of the Anderson County Legislative Delegation.

Following the annexationNext to the City of Anderson of any area not including a voting place and before a polling place has been established, it is lawful for any qualified voter residing in the area at the time of the PreviousannexationNext to vote in any general, special,municipal, or primary election, if otherwise qualified, upon production of a registration certificate showing that he is duly registered in the precinct from which the PreviousannexedNext area was taken. Any voter participating in the election shall vote at the polling place in the municipality nearest his residence and must furnish the managers with evidence satisfactory to them of this residence within the Previousannexed area. When any person has voted under the provisions of this section, one of the managers shall forthwith write across the back of his registration certificate the word 'voted' with the date on which the election is held and the initials of the managers."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
