A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF MRS. BARBARA G. BURRISS OF NORTH PreviousAUGUSTANext UPON HER DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mrs. Barbara G. Burriss on Sunday, January 28, 1996; and

Whereas, Mrs. Burriss lived in North PreviousAugustNext for over forty-three years and shared her love for music as a music teacher with generations of children and adults; and

Whereas, she was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of North PreviousAugustaNext and the Victory Sunday School Class. She was the founder and director of the Cream of the Crop Chorus and first director of the Junior Choir. She was a graduate of the Shenandoah Conservatory and a member of the Alumni Board of Directors at Shenandoah University; and

Whereas, throughout her life in North PreviousAugustaNext she was an active leader in many civic and community endeavors and the respect with which she was held was evidenced by her being named "North PreviousAugustaNext Citizen of the Year" in 1983; and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to extend their sincere condolences to her husband, three children, and other family and friends upon her death. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly hereby express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Mrs. Barbara G. Burriss of North PreviousAugusta upon her death.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to her husband, Mr. William H. Burriss, Jr.
