A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE THE NORTH AUGUSTA BOXING CLUB FOR
HOSTING THE REGION III U.S.A. BOXING OPEN DIVISION
CHAMPIONSHIPS IN AIKEN COUNTY FOR THE FIRST TIME
JANUARY 23, 24, 25, 1992.
Whereas, the Region III U.S.A. Boxing Open Division Championships
will be held in Aiken County for the first time, January 23, 24, and 25,
1992; and
Whereas, this prestigious event comes to South Carolina every fifth year
and this year the North Augusta Boxing Club is hosting the tournament
sponsored by the Regular Veterans Association in Clearwater, South
Carolina; and
Whereas, the contenders include state champions from Georgia, Florida,
the Florida Gold Coast, North Carolina, and South Carolina; and
Whereas, since 1992 is an Olympic year, this qualifying event is a
"stepping stone" which could lead to the Olympic Trials;
and
Whereas, winners from this championship advance to the National
Championships at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs,
Colorado, March 2-7, 1992; and
Whereas, the members of the Senate wish the participants in this
celebrated event much success and congratulate the North Augusta
Boxing Club for bringing honor not only to itself but to the entire state
of South Carolina. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate recognize the North Augusta Boxing
Club for hosting the Region III U.S.A. Boxing Open Division
Championships in Aiken County for the first time January 23, 24, and
25, 1992.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the
Director of the North Augusta Boxing Club, Mr. Noah G. Newman, Sr.
