A SENATE RESOLUTION
TO RECOGNIZE MS. LIZZIE LOW (JACKSON) BELL OF AIKEN
AS HER COMMUNITY HONORS HER ON LIZZIE BELL DAY,
SUNDAY, APRIL 5, 1992.
Whereas, Lizzie Bell Day is Sunday, April 5, 1992, to be celebrated in
Belvedere; and
Whereas, Lizzie Low (Jackson) Bell of Aiken was born March 17, 1902,
in Girard, Georgia, to Sara and George Jackson. She married Lewis Bell
on August 23, 1937, and has three daughters, Maybelle Burke, Betty
Sasser, and Melrose Hurst. She has thirteen grandchildren, twenty-five
great grandchildren, and three great, great grandchildren; and
Whereas, Sister Bell was one of seventeen children of whom five are
still living; and
Whereas, she was raised on a farm and in her early years was a midwife;
and
Whereas, we understand that she never misses a church service and is
well loved by her family as well as her church family; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly wish to join the family,
friends, and admirers of Lizzie Bell and pay tribute to this fine lady for
all she means to her community. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate recognize Ms. Lizzie Low (Jackson)
Bell of Aiken as her community honors her on Lizzie Bell Day, Sunday,
April 5, 1992.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Ms.
Lizzie Low (Jackson) Bell.
