 Senate to the family and many friends of Leonel Blanton (L.B.) Ergle, retired
 principal of the former Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School.

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF LEONEL BLANTON (L.B.) ERGLE, RETIRED PRINCIPAL OF THE FORMER LANGLEY-BATH-CLEARWATER HIGH SCHOOL.

Whereas, Leonel Blanton (L.B.) Ergle, retired principal of the former Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School, died Friday, January 8, 1993; and

Whereas, a native of Ridge Springs, Mr. Ergle was a graduate of Furman University and obtained his master's degree from the University of South Carolina in 1940. He was a school teacher in Lexington County and principal of Lancaster High School from 1931-1953; and

Whereas, he became principal of Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School in 1953 and served until 1969. From 1969 to 1972 he was administrative assistant for District 3 in the Aiken County school system; and

Whereas, Mr. Ergle was the former president of the Lancaster County Education Association and served on the War Planning (Rationing) Board; and

Whereas, a former deacon of First Baptist Church in Lancaster, he was chairman of the board of deacons. He was a former member of the Civitan Club of Lancaster; and

Whereas, Mr. Ergle was a Sunday School teacher for sixty-one years and teacher for the L.B. Ergle Sunday School class for thirty-nine years at Langley First Baptist Church, where he was a member and deacon; and

Whereas, he was a member and past president of the Midland Valley Langley-Bath-Clearwater Lions Club and a former president of the Aiken County Education Association and received the United Way Award for community service. He was a member of the Aiken County Council on Aging; and

Whereas, survivors include his wife, Jessie Mae Sanders Ergle; three daughters, Nona Claire Trowbridge of Monroe, North Carolina, Lynn Johnson of Pineville, Louisiana, and Beverly Quarles of West Columbia; a son, L.B. (Sam) Ergle, Jr. of Aiken; a sister, Emmis Harris, Augusta; twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate express their deepest sympathy to the family and many friends of Leonel Blanton (L.B.) Ergle, retired principal of the former Langley-Bath-Clearwater High School.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mr. Ergle.
