A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
EXPRESSING PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF
THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY AT THE DEATH OF LANCE
CORPORAL MICHAEL CHAPPELL OF THE SOUTH
CAROLINA HIGHWAY PATROL AND EXTENDING DEEPEST
SYMPATHY TO THE MEMBERS OF HIS FAMILY AND
MANY FRIENDS.
Whereas, Lance Corporal Michael Chappell of the South Carolina
Highway Patrol died in the line of duty on Monday, April 17, 1995,
at the age of forty-one; and
Whereas, he died after his vehicle crashed while apparently
pursuing another vehicle near Manning; and
Whereas, he was one of the most respected troopers on the force,
had an exemplary record on the Highway Patrol, and was an
outstanding role model as a state trooper, having joined the
Highway patrol in August, 1987; and
Whereas, he lived in Paxville, and his survivors include his wife
and two sons; and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly grieve over the
loss of this fine man and excellent state trooper and want the
members of his family and his friends to know that they have the
members' love, prayers, and support during this very difficult time.
Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate
concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this
resolution, expresses profound sorrow at the death of Lance
Corporal Michael Chappell of the South Carolina Highway Patrol
and extends deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Lance Corporal Chappell's family at Paxville.
