A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING SORROW AT THE DEATH OF THE HONORABLE JULIEN WEINBERG OF CLARENDON COUNTY AND EXTENDING DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, The Honorable Julien Weinberg of Clarendon County died in August, 1999, at age sixty-seven; and

Whereas, he was the former Judge of Probate for Clarendon County and Mayor of Manning; he was elected mayor in 1960 and served for two terms; during his service as mayor, he was elected president of the South Carolina Municipal Association Division for Small Towns and received the Public Service Award in 1967 from the association; and

Whereas, subsequently, he was elected councilman for the Town of Manning for two terms; he also served as Master-in-Equity and Special Referee for Clarendon County; and

Whereas, he was president of the South Carolina Association of Probate Judges in 1994; and

Whereas, Judge Weinberg graduated from Davidson College and the University of South Carolina School of Law; in 1958, he was admitted to practice before the state and federal courts, and he practiced law in Manning for twenty-eight years; and

Whereas, Julien Weinberg was a beloved member of his community and was known and admired throughout the State; he was an outstanding lawyer, and his public service was exemplary; he touched many lives and will be greatly missed. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express sorrow at the death of The Honorable Julien Weinberg of Clarendon County and extend deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Judge Weinberg's family.
