Whereas, Elizabeth Dixon McLaurin was born on August 8, 1919, and was the daughter of the late George Tresvant and Arlisa Gilmore Dixon; and

Whereas, Mrs. McLaurin was married to the late P.C. McLaurin, Sr., who was the former Chief of Police in Cheraw. They were blessed with six children: Sue M. Elvington of Cheraw, Phillip C. "Bubba" McLaurin of Cheraw, Betsy McLaurin of Garden City Beach, Diane Clark of Columbia, Preston McLaurin of Columbia, and George McLaurin of Cheraw; and the loving grandparents of sixteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; and

Whereas, for more than twenty-five years, she was the owner and operator of the Country Kitchen Restaurant in Cheraw. Mrs. McLaurin was a published cookbook author. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cheraw, where she had served for many years as the Chairwoman of the Hospitality and Bereavement Committees; and

Whereas, Mrs. McLaurin was a member of the following: Carrie Hatchell Sunday School Class, Cheraw Senior Circle, a Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star Chapter of Cheraw, and Chesterfield General Hospital Auxiliary; and

Whereas, it is fitting that the members of the General Assembly pause in their deliberations to reflect on the life of this daughter of the Palmetto State, who remained throughout her many years a hard worker, a loving and supporting wife and mother, and a dutiful servant of God. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina hereby honor the memory of Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon McLaurin of Cheraw and express profound sorrow to the family and many friends upon her passing.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the family of Mrs. Elizabeth Dixon McLaurin.
