Whereas, Dixie Softball is primarily a youth softball program for girls eighteen years of age and younger playing on a scaled-down diamond to meet the physical development of the growing child; and

Whereas, the noble purpose of the Dixie Softball program is to provide a recreational outlet for as many girls as possible with the emphasis on local league play; although following the close of the regular season, the girls look forward to competing in district tournaments, state tournaments, and the World Series; and

Whereas, the Dixie Belles World Series Championship game was held in Jackson, Tennessee, in August of 2004; and

Whereas, the Darlington Dixie Belles lost the first game of the World Series but rallied to go on to win five straight games to capture the coveted title; and

Whereas, the Darlington, South Carolina, Dixie Belles Softball Team is the first South Carolina Belles team to claim the World Series Championship; and

Whereas, the big win came as a result of the hard work, determination, and talent of every girl on the team and their coaches: Garry Flowers, Tim Wiley, and Timmy Huntley; and

Whereas, the members of the championship team are Lyles Huntley, Shannon Burr, Tori Norwood, Brittany Perkins, Ana Weiland, Devoney Anderson, Brooke Spinks, Blair Spinks, Blair Warren, Taylor Wiley, Elizabeth Flowers, and Stacey Weatherford; and
