1/10/2008

H. 4454

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE HAMMOND SCHOOL VARSITY FOOTBALL TEAM ON ITS OUTSTANDING WIN OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOLS ASSOCIATION (SCISA) AAA STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP, AND TO HONOR THE PLAYERS AND THEIR COACH, ERIK KIMREY, ON AN EXCEPTIONAL SEASON.

Whereas, excellence in football demands individual strength, agility, and skill, as well as team play and good sportsmanship; and

Whereas, using those talents and attributes, Head Coach Erik Kimrey, Assistant Coaches Adam Holmes, Jamie Scott, Jeff Barnes, Chris Elliott, and Hart Turner, and the members of the Hammond School varsity football team, capped an incredible season by winning the SCISA AAA state football championship; and

Whereas, competing fiercely in the school's colors of red, white, and blue, the team proved able to topple any challenge put in its way, celebrating a 12-1 season and an undefeated record of 4-0 in its region; and

Whereas, dominating formidable opponents, the team earned victories against Hilton Head Christian Academy, Laurence-Manning Academy, Orangeburg Preparatory School, Robert E. Lee Academy, Cardinal Newman School, Porter-Gaud School, Heathwood Hall Episcopal School, Ben Lippen Academy, and Augusta Christian School; and

Whereas, senior members of the team include Austin Hood, Stone Pinckney, Josh Walters, Steven Harvin, Walker Inabinet, Blake Wells, Adam Gamble, James Wade, Ward Mungo, and Alston James; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives take pride in commending the young men of the Hammond School varsity football team for their tireless efforts and great determination in this banner season and recognize them for this wonderful accomplishment. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Hammond School varsity football team on its outstanding win of the South Carolina Independent Schools Association (SCISA) AAA state football championship, and honor the players and their coach, Erik Kimrey, on an exceptional season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Erik Kimrey, Head Coach of the Hammond School varsity football team.
