A SENATE
RESOLUTION
TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS
OF THE SENATE TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF
MRS. MARY "ZULA" BLACKWELL BAKER OF
WARRENVILLE WHO DIED MONDAY, MARCH 13, 1995.
Whereas, Mrs. Mary "Zula" Blackwell Baker of
Warrenville died Monday, March 13, 1995; and
Whereas, Mrs. Baker, a native of Warrenville and a lifelong
resident of Aiken County, was a member of Our Lady of the Valley
Catholic Church where she served as the president of the Women's
Guild and bookkeeper for forty years; and
Whereas, Mrs. Baker was an active and valuable member of her
community, having served for forty years as secretary of the Aiken
County Democratic Party. She was a former member of the Board
of Commissioners for the Aiken County Council on Alcohol and
Drug Abuse, a field representative for the South Carolina Urban
League, past secretary of Augusta Federation of Trades and Augusta
Building Trades, and she owned and operated an income tax
preparation business for many years; and
Whereas, Mrs. Baker is listed in the Archives of Women in Labor
at the Universities of South Carolina, Mississippi, and Nebraska.
Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate:
That the members of the Senate express their deepest sympathy to
the family and many friends of Mrs. Mary "Zula"
Blackwell Baker of Warrenville who died Monday, March 13, 1995.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
the family of Mrs. Baker.
