AN ACT TO AUTHORIZE THE NUMBER, DISTRICTS, AND LOCATION OF OFFICES OF
MAGISTRATES IN AIKEN COUNTY AND TO REPEAL ACT 254 OF 1985 RELATING TO THE
MAGISTRATES IN AIKEN COUNTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Magistrates may be authorized
SECTION 1. In Aiken County there may be authorized:
(1) five full-time magistrates each of whose office must be maintained at the
place to be designated by the Aiken County Legislative Delegation in each
magisterial district as follows:
(a) one for District 1, North Augusta/Belvedere, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 9, 10, 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, 44, 45, 54, 55, and 58;
(b) one for District 2, Clearwater/Langley, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 7, 12, 15, 18, 19, 49, 50, 51, and 59;
(c) one for District 3, Aiken/Montmorenci, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 20, 33, 34, 35, 46, 47, 52, 56, and 57;
(d) one for District 4, Graniteville/ Vaucluse, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 14, 11, 38, 16, and 41;
(e) one for District 6, South Aiken/New Ellenton, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 13, 22, 23, 42, 43, and 37;
(2) three part-time magistrates each of whose office must be maintained at the
place to be designated by the Aiken County Legislative Delegation in each
magisterial district as follows:
(a) one for District 5, Jackson/Beech Island, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 8, 17, and 48;
(b) one for District 7, Monetta/Oak Grove, comprised of Aiken County
Precincts 21, 24, 30, and 40;
(c) one for District 8, Wagener/Salley, comprised of Aiken County Precincts
31, 32, 36, 39, and 53.
Repeal
SECTION 2. Act 254 of 1985 is repealed.
Special magistrate to continue to serve
SECTION 3. The special magistrate in Aiken County provided for by Act 79 of
1977 shall continue to serve in the manner provided in that act.
Time effective
SECTION 4. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor. |
