A BILL

TO AMEND SECTION 20-7-530, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO PHOTOGRAPHS AND EXAMINATIONS OF CHILDREN SUBJECT TO ABUSE OR NEGLECT, SO AS TO INCLUDE MEDICAL EXAMINATIONS FOR SEXUAL AND PHYSICAL ABUSE.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. Section 20-7-530 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 20-7-530. Any A person required to report under Section 20-7-510 may take, or cause to be taken, color photographs of the areas of trauma visible on a child who is the subject of a report and, if medically indicated, cause to be performed a radiological examination or a medical examination for sexual and physical abuse, or both, of the child without the consent of the child's parents or guardians. All photographs, negatives, and copies of them shall must be sent to the appropriate local child protective service agency or county department of social services at the time when a report pursuant to Section 20-7-510 is made, or as soon thereafter after that time as possible."

SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
