procuring goods or services, or both, valued at more than twenty-five thousand
dollars.

A BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976,
BY ADDING SECTION 58-31-37 SO AS TO REQUIRE THE SOUTH
CAROLINA PUBLIC SERVICE AUTHORITY TO OBTAIN
ADVANCE APPROVAL OF THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL
BOARD FOR A CONTRACT PROCURING GOODS OR SERVICES,
OR BOTH, VALUED AT MORE THAN TWENTY-FIVE
THOUSAND DOLLARS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 31, Title 58 of the 1976 Code is amended by
adding:
"Section 58-31-37. Notwithstanding any other provision of
law, the authority must obtain advance approval of the State Budget and
Control Board before entering into a contract for the procurement of
goods or services, or both, valued at more than twenty-five thousand
dollars."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect July 1, 1993, and applies with
respect to contracts executed after June 30, 1993.
