A Bill to amend the Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, by adding Section
22-1-11 so as to provide that no member of the Senate who is an attorney at
law licensed to practice in this state nor any member of a law firm with which
he is associated may represent a client in the magistrate's court of any
county which is included in whole or in part in the election district from
which the Senator is elected.

A BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA,
1976, BY ADDING SECTION 22-1-11 SO AS TO PROVIDE
THAT NO MEMBER OF THE SENATE WHO IS AN
ATTORNEY AT LAW LICENSED TO PRACTICE IN THIS
STATE NOR ANY MEMBER OF A LAW FIRM WITH WHICH
HE IS ASSOCIATED MAY REPRESENT A CLIENT IN THE
MAGISTRATE'S COURT OF ANY COUNTY WHICH IS
INCLUDED IN WHOLE OR IN PART IN THE ELECTION
DISTRICT FROM WHICH THE SENATOR IS ELECTED.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina:
SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended to read:
"Section 22-1-11. No member of the Senate who is an
attorney at law licensed to practice in this State nor any member of
a law firm with which he is associated may represent a client in the
magistrate's court of any county which is included in whole or in
part in the election district from which the senator is elected."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the
Governor.
