 A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION REVEREND JOHN C. WILLIAMS OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON THE
 OBSERVANCE OF HIS TENTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF MACEDONIA BAPTIST CHURCH, AND
 COMMENDING HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF HUMANITARIAN SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE STATE
 OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

CONGRATULATING REVEREND JOHN C. WILLIAMS OF RICHLAND COUNTY ON THE OBSERVANCE OF HIS TENTH ANNIVERSARY AS PASTOR OF MACEDONIA BAPTIST CHURCH, AND COMMENDING HIM FOR HIS MANY YEARS OF HUMANITARIAN SERVICE THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, Reverend John C. Williams of Richland County is the son of the late Mack and Corine Williams; and

Whereas, he was educated in the Richland County public school system, received his undergraduate degree from Benedict College, and his ministerial training from the Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary; and

Whereas, in 1962, Reverend Williams began his Christian ministry at both Mt. Nebo Baptist Church in the Eastover-Wateree Community of Lower Richland County where he served as pastor for twenty-seven years, and at Beauty Hill Baptist Church in the Great Branch Community of Orangeburg County where he served as pastor for twenty years; and

Whereas, for the past ten years he has pastored the Macedonia Baptist Church in the Blythewood-Ridgeway Community of Richland County; and

Whereas, during his many years of ministerial work, Reverend Williams has served as Moderator of the Tom Creek Union, President of the Wateree Baptist Sunday School Convention Upper Division, member of the Executive Boards of both the Mt. Olive Baptist Association and the Wateree Baptist Association Upper Division, and an active supporter of and participant in the Baptist E&M Convention of South Carolina and the South Carolina Baptist Congress of Christian Education of which he was a faculty member; and

Whereas, early in this career he served as a public school teacher at Booker T. Washington High School and Webber High School; and

Whereas, he was employed with the Internal Revenue Service for twenty years, and currently serves as Director of the Office of Church Relations for Benedict College; and

Whereas, Reverend Williams' humanitarian work includes service as President of the Columbia Junior Benedict College Club and President of the Benedict College National Alumni Association; and

Whereas, he is a Past Master of Capital City Lodge No. 47, a member of C. C. Johnson Consistory No. 136 (32nd Degree Masons), a member of Cairo Temple No. 125 (Shriners), and is the Assistant Grand Chaplain for the Grand Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons for the State of South Carolina; and

Whereas, in May, 1986, Benedict College bestowed upon Reverend Williams the Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree, and in 1985, he was chosen as Capital City Lodge's "Mason of the Year"; and

Whereas, he is married to the former Jeannette Louise Evans, and together they are the proud parents of two daughters and the doting grandparents of four grandchildren; and

Whereas, the congregation of Macedonia Baptist Church desires to celebrate the faithful ministry of Reverend Williams on his tenth anniversary as their pastor; and

Whereas, toward that end, the church has planned an anniversary service on April 10, 1999, at the Masonic Lodge in Ridgeway, South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly do hereby congratulate Reverend John C. Williams on his ten years of faithful service to Macedonia Baptist Church in the Blythewood-Ridgeway Community of Richland County and commend him for his many years of humanitarian service throughout the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Reverend John C. Williams.
