TO AMEND ARTICLE 11, CHAPTER 21, TITLE 24 OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA CODE OF LAWS, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 24-21-1010, SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT A PERSON WHO HAS RECEIVED A PARDON FOR ANY CRIME EXCEPT CRIMINAL SEXUAL CONDUCT OR A CRIME OF VIOLENCE AS DEFINED IN SECTION 16-23-10(3), MAY APPLY, OR CAUSE SOMEONE ACTING ON THE PERSON'S BEHALF TO APPLY, TO THE CIRCUIT COURT FOR AN ORDER EXPUNGING THE RECORDS OF THE PERSON'S ARREST AND PreviousCONVICTIONNext.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Article 11, Chapter 21, Title 24 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 24-21-1010.    A person who has received a pardon for any crime except criminal sexual conduct or a crime of violence as defined in Section 16-23-10(3), may apply, or cause someone acting on the person's behalf to apply, to the circuit court for an order expunging the records of the person's arrest and Previousconviction."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
