AN ACT TO PROVIDE FOR THE APPOINTMENT OF RESIDENTS OF SALUDA COUNTY TO THE AREA ADVISORY COUNCIL OF ADMINISTRATIVE AREA NO. 4 OF THE AIKEN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Advisory Council
SECTION 1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law, the two members of the Area Advisory Council of Administrative Area No. 4 of the school district of Aiken County representing the area in Saluda County, who must be residents of that portion of Saluda County, formerly designated as Ridge Spring School District No. 2., must be appointed by the Saluda County Legislative Delegation after an advisory election held at the same time as the general election. Candidates desiring to offer as members of the advisory board shall qualify by filing as candidates with the Saluda County Election Commission at least sixty days before the general election. Candidates must be qualified electors residing in the old Ridge Spring School District No. 2 and may be voted on by qualified electors residing in that area only, The names of the two candidates receiving the highest plurality of votes in the election must be submitted to the Saluda County Legislative Delegation for consideration for appointment to the Advisory Board of Education. The persons appointed to the Advisory Board of Education shall serve for terms of four years and until their successors are appointed and qualify.
Terms
SECTION 2. The terms of the members presently serving on the Area Advisory Council of Administrative Area No. 4 of the school district of Aiken County, who represent that portion of Saluda County formerly designated as Ridge Spring School District No. 2, shall serve through December 31, 1984. Their successor must be appointed after the General Election of 1984 as provided for in Section 1 of this act. Their terms shall begin on January 1, 1985.

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor. |
