A house RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE COUNCILMEMBER CAMILLE FURGIUELE UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AS an AIKEN PreviousCOUNTYNext COUNCILMEMBER, TO COMMEND HER FOR HER EIGHT YEARS OF DEDICATED SERVICE TO AIKEN PreviousCOUNTYNext, AND TO WISH HER MUCH HAPPINESS AND FULFILLMENT IN THE YEARS AHEAD.

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina House are pleased to recognize Councilmember Camille Furgiuele upon the occasion of her retirement from the Aiken PreviousCountyNext Council on December 31, 2022; and

Whereas, Councilmember Furgiuele is an alumna of Rutgers University in New Jersey; and

Whereas, Councilmember Furgiuele has served in many professional capacities, including as town manager of the Town of Newton; co-owner and vice president of Professional Government Educators, Inc., where she frequently presented seminars to government officials on topics such as budgeting, cash and debt management, emergency management, leadership, and other such vital topics; and chairman of the board of directors of Stepping Stones in New Ellenton, where she engages with at-risk young women and young men to promote self-esteem and self-empowerment; and

Whereas, in her two terms as a councilmember, Councilmember Furgiuele has worked to bring better financial reporting to the Aiken PreviousCountyNext Council, enhanced the budget to allow for better service to citizens, and improved salaries for Aiken PreviousCountyNext employees, all without the need for any increase in property taxes; and

Whereas, during her service as a councilmember, Councilmember Furgiuele also spearheaded the Whiskey Road project, working with the PreviouscountyNext to bring the State and cities of Aiken and New Ellenton together; and

Whereas, Councilmember Furgiuele has served on the Aiken PreviousCountyNext Planning Board, the Citizen's Advisory Board, and the PreviousCountyNext Transportation Committee. She has also served as vice president of the board of directors of the Aiken Symphony Orchestra; and

Whereas, a devout Christian, Councilmember Furgiuele serves as a Eucharistic minister at St. Mary's Help of Christian Church in Aiken; and

Whereas, Councilmember Furgiuele's beloved husband, Richard, passed away in 2014. She has two children, Mike and Cathy, and four grandchildren; and

Whereas, Councilmember Furgiuele has served the people of Aiken PreviousCountyNext with determination and dedication. The members of the South Carolina House appreciate the passion and dedication that she has shown in serving the people and the State of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the South Carolina House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate Councilmember Furgiuele upon the occasion of her retirement as an Aiken PreviousCountyNext councilmember, commend her for her eight years of dedicated service to Aiken PreviousCounty, and wish her much happiness and fulfillment in the years ahead.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Councilmember Camille Furgiuele.
