AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 30-5-10, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA,
1976, AND ACT 123 OF 1985, RELATING TO REGISTERS OF MESNE CONVEYANCES, SO AS TO
PROVIDE THAT ORANGEBURG COUNTY SHALL HAVE A REGISTER OF MESNE CONVEYANCES
APPOINTED BY THE ORANGEBURG COUNTY GOVERNING BODY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Register of mesne conveyances in Orangeburg
County
SECTION 1. Section 30-5-10 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 123 of
1985, is further amended to read:
"Section 30-5-10. In every county in the State other than Aiken,
Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Greenville, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland,
Spartanburg, and Sumter the duties prescribed by law for the register of mesne
conveyances must be performed by the clerk of court who has all the powers and
emoluments given the register of mesne conveyances in Aiken, Beaufort, Berkeley,
Charleston, Greenville, Lexington, Orangeburg, Richland, Spartanburg, and Sumter
Counties. The register of mesne conveyances in Berkeley County is elected for
a term of four years and until his successor is elected in the general election
and qualifies."

SECTION 2. Section 2 of Act 123 of 1985 is amended to read:
"Section 2. The governing body of Beaufort
County and Orangeburg County shall appoint the register of mesne conveyances for
the county under terms and conditions as it may agree upon."
Time effective
SECTION 3. This act shall take effect upon approval by the Governor. |
