A JOINT RESOLUTON TO DIRECT THE SOUTH CAROLINA
DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION TO ERECT CERTAIN
DIRECTIONAL SIGNS RELATING TO THE LOCATION OF THE
YORK COUNTY CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU/VISITOR
INFORMATION CENTER AND LAKE MURRAY AND THE TOWN OF
LEXINGTON IN LEXINGTON COUNTY.
Whereas, the General Assembly finds it is necessary and desirable to erect
directional signs on the highways of this State to designate the location of
certain recreational facilities; and
Whereas, the General Assembly finds that directional signs should be
erected to designate the location of the York County Convention and
Visitors Bureau/Visitor Information Center and the Town of Lexington and
Lake Murray in Lexington County. Now, therefore,
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
Signs to be erected
SECTION 1. The South Carolina Department of Transportation is directed
to erect directional signs on Interstate 77 pertaining to the York County
Convention and Visitors Bureau/Visitors Information Center which is
located in York County. The location, type, and placement of the
directional signs must be approved by letter of the county delegation.
Timetable
SECTION 2. Upon receipt of the appropriate letter of communication
from the York County Delegation, the South Carolina Department of
Transportation is directed to erect these directional signs no later than one
hundred twenty days after receipt of the letter.
Copy to be forwarded
SECTION 3. A copy of this resolution must be forwarded to the South
Carolina Department of Transportation.
Signs to be erected
SECTION 4. The South Carolina Department of Transportation is directed
to erect a directional sign on Interstate 20 along the eastbound lane, prior to
Exit No. 55, indicating that the next three exits lead to Lake Murray and the
Town of Lexington. The Department of Transportation is also directed to
erect a directional sign along the westbound lane, prior to the intersection
of Highway 378, that the next three exits lead to Lake Murray and the
Town of Lexington. The precise location, type, and placement of the
directional signs must be approved by a letter signed by the members of the
county legislative delegation.
Timetable
SECTION 5. Upon receipt of the appropriate letter of communication
from the Lexington County Delegation, the South Carolina Department of
Transportation is directed to erect these directional signs no later than one
hundred twenty days after receipt of the letter.
Time effective
SECTION 6. This joint resolution takes effect upon approval by the
Governor.
