A BILL
TO AMEND ACT 526 OF 1996, RELATING TO THE
CONSOLIDATED SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF ORANGEBURG
COUNTY, SO AS TO ESTABLISH A NEW CONSOLIDATED
SCHOOL DISTRICT TWO WHICH CONSISTS OF THE
BOUNDARIES OF PRESENT SCHOOL DISTRICTS TWO AND
EIGHT, TO PROVIDE FOR A BOARD OF TRUSTEES FOR THIS
CONSOLIDATED DISTRICT, AND TO PROVIDE FOR ITS
POWERS, DUTIES, AND FUNCTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina:
SECTION 1. The first paragraph of subsection (A) of Section 1 of
Act 526 of 1996 is amended to read:
"(A) Effective July 1, 1997, Orangeburg County shall consist of
three school districts to be known as Orangeburg County
Consolidated School District Two, Orangeburg County
Consolidated School District Three, Orangeburg County
Consolidated School District Four, and Orangeburg County
Consolidated School District Five. Each consolidated school district
shall consist of the following areas:
(1) Orangeburg County Consolidated School District
Two--the boundaries of present school districts Two and Eight;
(1)(2) Orangeburg County Consolidated School
District Four--the boundaries of present school districts One,
and Four, and Eight;
(2)(3) Orangeburg County Consolidated School
District Five--the boundaries of present school districts Two,
Five, and Six; and
(3)(4) Orangeburg County Consolidated School
District Three--the boundaries of present school districts Three and
Seven."
SECTION 2. The Board of Trustees of Orangeburg County School
District Two and its powers, duties, and functions shall be as follows:
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
