A BILL
TO DEVOLVE THE AUTHORITY FOR APPOINTMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR APPOINTMENTS FOR BOARDS AND COMMISSIONS FROM THE LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION REPRESENTING AIKEN COUNTY TO THE GOVERNING BODY OF AIKEN COUNTY AND TO PROVIDE EXCEPTIONS.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. (A) In all cases where appointments or recommendations for appointments to offices, boards, and commissions are made by or upon the recommendation of the House Delegation, Senate Delegation, or Joint Legislative Delegation of Aiken County, or any other member or combination of members of the General Assembly by reason of their representing all or a portion of Aiken County, such appointments or recommendations must be made by or upon the recommendation of a majority of the members of the governing body of Aiken County.
(B) The application of subsection (A) does not include:
(1) Veterans Affairs Officer for Aiken County;
(2) members of the Registration and Elections Commission for Aiken County;
(3) Aiken County Legislative Delegation Office personnel; and
(4) Aiken County Transportation Committee.
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
