 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE MEMBERS OF THE SPARTANBURG
 COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT UNIT DUI TEAM FOR THEIR EXEMPLARY
 WORK OF SUCCESSFULLY APPREHENDING THOSE WHO DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF
 ALCOHOL OR OTHER SUBSTANCES THEREBY MAKING THE THOROUGHFARES OF SPARTANBURG
 COUNTY SAFE FOR ITS CITIZENS.

TO RECOGNIZE AND COMMEND THE MEMBERS OF THE SPARTANBURG COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT UNIT DUI TEAM FOR THEIR EXEMPLARY WORK OF SUCCESSFULLY APPREHENDING THOSE WHO DRIVE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF ALCOHOL OR OTHER SUBSTANCES THEREBY MAKING THE THOROUGHFARES OF SPARTANBURG COUNTY SAFE FOR ITS CITIZENS.

Whereas, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office has established a Traffic Enforcement Unit DUI Team consisting of First Sergeant James Bradley, Deputies Keith Gibbs, Chad Bagwell, Jason Kramer, Randy Lamkin, Jim Rhodes, and the ICE Team Deputies Ken Hancock, Ritchie McSwain, Jason Carraway, and Mark Ervin; and

Whereas, in effectively performing its duties, the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit DUI Team increased DUI arrests in Spartanburg County by almost five hundred percent from the year 2004 to 2005, and again more than doubled the number of arrests from 2005 to 2006; and

Whereas, the DUI Team was named the Statewide DUI Agency of the Year in 2005 as well as in 2006, and the DUI Team received the 2006 Hero Award from the DUI Agency for its exemplary work; and

Whereas, the DUI Team was named the National President's DUI Law Enforcement Agency of the Year for 2007 from the Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD); and

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution, would like to recognize each law enforcement officer from Spartanburg for his outstanding efforts in controlling the very serious crime of driving under the influence of alcohol and other intoxicating drugs and thank each of them for the wonderful work for and dedication to the community, county, and State. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and commend the members of the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit DUI Team for their exemplary work of successfully apprehending those who drive under the influence of alcohol or other substances thereby making the thoroughfares of Spartanburg County safe for its citizens.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Spartanburg County Sheriff's Office Traffic Enforcement Unit DUI Team.
