S 0301 General Bill, By T.E. Garrison
A bill to amend Section 7-3-10, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1976, relating
to the powers and duties of the State Election Commission so as to provide
that the Commission shall promulgate regulations to standardize practices and
procedures throughout the State relating to voter registration and the conduct
of elections; to amend Article 1, Chapter 5, Title 7, as amended, of the 1976
Code relating to county boards of registration so as to create a Voter
Registration and Election Commission for each county, to provide for the
membership of the commissions and for their powers and duties, to provide for
a county supervisor of voter registration and elections to be appointed by
these county commissions and to revise the amount of the annual supplements
these county commissions shall receive from the State; to provide that all
references in the 1976 Code to "county boards of registration" or "county
election commissions" mean and refer to the county voter registration and
election commissions established above and to repeal Section 7-13-70 of the
1976 Code relating to county election commissions and Act 89 of 1973 relating
to the Lexington County Registration and Elections Commission.
