AN ACT TO AMEND SECTION 59-53-510, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE CHESTERFIELD-MARLBORO AREA TECHNICAL EDUCATION COMMISSION, SO AS TO CHANGE THE NAME TO THE CHESTERFIELD-MARLBORO TECHNICAL COLLEGE AREA COMMISSION AND THE NAME OF THE COMMISSION'S COLLEGE TO THE CHESTERFIELD-MARLBORO TECHNICAL COLLEGE AND PROVIDE THAT THE SUPERINTENDENTS OF THE SCHOOL DISTRICTS OF DILLON PreviousCOUNTYNext SHALL SERVE IN ROTATING TERMS AS EX OFFICIO MEMBERS OF THE COMMISSION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Names changed

SECTION 1. Section 59-53-510 of the 1976 Code is amended to read:

"Section 59-53-510. There is created the Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College Area Commission for Chesterfield and Marlboro PreviouscountiesNext which is a body politic and corporate and the governing body of the Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College. The commission consists of twelve members, six of whom must be registered electors of Chesterfield PreviousCountyNext and three of whom must be registered electors of Marlboro PreviousCountyNext. Appointment of these nine members must be made by the Governor upon the recommendation of a majority of the legislative delegation from the PreviouscountyNext in which the appointee is a resident for terms of three years and until their successors are appointed and qualify. Vacancies must be filled in the manner of the original appointment for the unexpired portion of the term only. The superintendents of education from Chesterfield and Marlboro PreviouscountiesNext are ex officio members of the commission. One of the superintendents of the three school districts of Dillon PreviousCountyNext shall serve as a member ex officio for a term of two years on a rotating basis."

SECTION 2. The superintendent of Dillon PreviousCountyNext School District 2 is the first to serve on the Chesterfield-Marlboro Technical College Area Commission, followed by the superintendent of Dillon PreviousCounty School District 1 and School District 3, in that order. If a superintendent is unable or chooses not to serve, the term rotates to the next superintendent in order.

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
