A BILL

TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTIONS 4-9-115 AND 5-7-255 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT ALL MEETINGS OF A PreviousCOUNTYNext GOVERNING BODY AND A MUNICIPAL GOVERNING BODY MUST BE CONDUCTED WITHIN THE PreviousCOUNTYNext OR MUNICIPALITY, RESPECTIVELY, IN ORDER FOR THE MEMBERS OF THE GOVERNING BODY TO RECEIVE COMPENSATION, EXPENSES, MILEAGE, OR SUBSISTENCE FOR THE MEETINGS AND FOR THE PreviousCOUNTYNext OR MUNICIPALITY TO PAY FOR ANY OTHER RELATED COSTS OF THE MEETINGS.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION 1. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 4-9-115. All meetings of a PreviouscountyNext governing body must be conducted within the PreviouscountyNext in order for the members of the PreviouscountyNext governing body to receive compensation, expenses, mileage, or subsistence for the meetings and for the Previouscounty to pay for any other related costs of the meetings."

SECTION 2. The 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 5-7-255. All meetings of a municipal governing body must be conducted within the municipality in order for the members of the municipal governing body to receive compensation, expenses, mileage, or subsistence for the meetings and for the municipality to pay for any other related costs of the meetings."

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
