06/01/95 House Introduced and adopted HJ-86
A HOUSE RESOLUTION
TO COMMEND MR. TOM B. YOUNG OF CHARLESTON FOR
HIS TWENTY-FIVE YEARS OF DISTINGUISHED SERVICE
ON THE CHARLESTON COUNTY PARKS AND RECREATION
COMMISSION AND FOR HIS WORK IN DEVELOPING A
MUCH-NEEDED PARKS AND RECREATION PROGRAM IN
CHARLESTON COUNTY.
Whereas, Mr. Tom B. Young of Charleston is a charter member of
the Charleston County Parks and Recreation Commission on which
he served for a period of twenty-five years from July 1, 1968, until
June 30, 1993; and
Whereas, he was perhaps the person most responsible for the
establishment of this important commission and the first meeting of
the commission was held in his home; and
Whereas, Charleston County over the years has been fortunate to
have a number of civic and business leaders who have contributed
so much to their community and Tom Young, without question, is
such a leader; and
Whereas, during his tenure on the commission, he was responsible,
in a large measure, for the progressive and much-needed
development of park and recreational lands and facilities in
Charleston County; and
Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives, by this
resolution, would like to publicly recognize and commend this fine
South Carolinian for his service on the commission and for his
many contributions to recreation in Charleston County. Now,
therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:
That the members of the House of Representatives hereby commend
Mr. Tom B. Young of Charleston for his twenty-five years of
distinguished service on the Charleston County Parks and
Recreation Commission and for his work in developing a much-needed parks and recreation program in Charleston County.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Mr. Young.
