A BILL
TO TRANSFER THE ASSETS AND LIABILITIES OF THE
CHARLESTON COUNTY PARK, RECREATION AND TOURIST
DISTRICT TO THE GOVERNING BODY OF CHARLESTON
COUNTY UPON A FAVORABLE REFERENDUM OF THE
QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE DISTRICT; AND REPEAL
ACT 1069 OF 1968, RELATING TO THE CREATION OF THE
CHARLESTON COUNTY PARK, RECREATION AND TOURIST
DISTRICT UPON THE TRANSFER OF ITS ASSETS AND
LIABILITIES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South
Carolina:
SECTION 1. The assets and liabilities of the Charleston County
Park, Recreation and Tourist District are transferred to the
governing body of Charleston County. The transfer is not
completed until the question of the transfer has been submitted to
and approved by a favorable referendum vote of a majority of the
qualified electors of the district voting in the referendum. The
referendum must be held at the time of the general election of 1996
and conducted by the Charleston County Election Commission.
SECTION 2. Upon the transfer of the assets and liabilities of
the Charleston County Park, Recreation and Tourist District, Act
1069 of 1968 is repealed.
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the
Governor.
