A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE AND EXTEND BEST WISHES TO MISS CARRIE L. GASS OF LEE COUNTY ON BEING RECOGNIZED AS ALLEN UNIVERSITY'S OUTSTANDING ALUMNI BY THE LEE COUNTY ALUMNI CHAPTER.
Whereas, Miss Carrie L. Gass was born in and currently resides in the town of Bishopville in Lee County; and
Whereas, she is a graduate of Dennis High School, received her undergraduate college degree from Allen University in 1957, and has completed additional studies at South Carolina State University, Columbia College, and the University of South Carolina; and
Whereas, Miss Gass served for many years as a media specialist at many of the State's public schools including Richard Carroll High School, Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School, Rosenwald High School, and Mt. Pleasant High School; and
Whereas, she is a member of the Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and the Canty Chapter # 178 Order of the Eastern Star; and
Whereas, her educational affiliations included the Lee County Education Association, the South Carolina Education Association, and the National Education Association; and
Whereas, Miss Gass is an active member of the Mechanicsville United Methodist Church where she serves on the Administrative Council, Trustee Board, Finance Committee, Lay Leadership Committee, Archives and History Committee, Building Committee, and United Methodist Women Committee; and
Whereas, she serves on the Hartsville District Council on Ministries and the South Carolina Conference Committee on Religion and Race; and
Whereas, Miss Gass is the Founder and Chairperson of the Committee for Progress and Understanding, a member of the National Council for Negro Women, the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, the Lee County Cooperative Ministries, the Council on Aging, Woodward Memorial Library Board, and the Kiwanis Club; and
Whereas, it has been brought to the attention of the members of the General Assembly that Miss Gass has been chosen as Allen University's Outstanding Alumni by the Lee County alumni chapter. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate and extend best wishes to Miss Carrie L. Gass of Lee County on being recognized as Allen University's outstanding alumni by the Lee County alumni chapter.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Miss Carrie L. Gass.
