TO AMEND SECTION 7-7-420, AS AMENDED, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, RELATING TO THE DESIGNATION OF VOTING PRECINCTS IN NEWBERRY PreviousCOUNTYNext, SO AS TO REVISE AND RENAME CERTAIN VOTING PRECINCTS OF NEWBERRY PreviousCOUNTYNext AND REDESIGNATE A MAP NUMBER FOR THE MAP ON WHICH LINES OF THESE PRECINCTS ARE DELINEATED AND MAINTAINED BY THE OFFICE OF RESEARCH AND STATISTICS OF THE STATE BUDGET AND CONTROL BOARD.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

SECTION    1.    Section 7-7-420 of the 1976 Code, as last amended by Act 355 of 2002, is further amended to read:

"Section 7-7-420.    (A)    In Newberry PreviousCountyNext there are the following voting precincts:

Beth-Eden

Bush River

Chappells

Fairview

Hartford

Helena

Kinards-Jalapa

(B)    The precinct lines defining the precincts provided in subsection (A) in Newberry PreviousCountyNext are as shown on the official map prepared by and on file with the Office of Research and Statistical Services Statistics of the State Budget and Control Board designated as document P-71-02 P-71-05 and as shown on certified copies of the official map provided by the office to the State Election Commission and the Newberry PreviousCountyNext Registration and Election Commission.

(C)    The polling places for the precincts provided in this section must be established by the Newberry PreviousCountyNext Registration and Election Commission subject to the approval of the majority of the Newberry PreviousCounty Delegation."

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
