A Concurrent Resolution to express the deepest sympathy of the members of the

Laurens, a prominent civic leader and countyNext treasurer, upon his death.

01/23/96 Senate Introduced, adopted, sent to House SJ-11

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

TO EXPRESS THE DEEPEST SYMPATHY OF THE MEMBERS OF THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY TO THE FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS OF MR. CECIL GARRETT, OF LAURENS, A PROMINENT CIVIC LEADER AND PreviousCOUNTYNext TREASURER, UPON HIS DEATH.

Whereas, the members of the General Assembly are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Mr. Cecil Garrett, of Laurens, on Tuesday, January 9, 1996, at the age of sixty-four; and

Whereas, he was a native of Laurens PreviousCountyNext and a loving husband and father to his wife and children; and

Whereas, he was a devoted public servant who prudently oversaw taxpayer money for nine years as Laurens PreviousCountyNext Treasurer; and

Whereas, he was a respected civic leader serving as a Director for the Laurens PreviousCountyNext Mental Retardation Board and the Laurens PreviousCountyNext Livestock Association, President of the Laurens PreviousCountyNext Rotary Club, and thirty-five years of service as Treasurer of the Laurens PreviousCountyNext Shrine Club; and

Whereas, he was admired and loved by Previouscountless individuals for his humor, love, and service for the community and state, and his kind heart and altruistic spirit; and

Whereas, seldom has a person contributed to his community and state as did this outstanding South Carolinian. He was well known and highly regarded in his community; and

Whereas, his death represents a tremendous loss to the Laurens community, and in truth, the State of South Carolina, and we want the members of his family and many friends to know that they are in our uppermost thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives concurring:

That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, express profound sorrow at the death of Mr. Cecil Garrett, of Laurens, and extends the deepest sympathy to the members of his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mr. Garrett's family.
