A CONCURRENT
RESOLUTION
TO CONGRATULATE THE COUNTY OF AIKEN AND ALL OF
ITS CITIZENS UPON THE OCCASION OF ITS ONE HUNDRED
TWENTY-FIFTH BIRTHDAY ON MARCH 10, 1996.
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, with great pride,
join the citizens of Aiken County in celebrating its one hundred
twenty-fifth birthday on March 10, 1996; and
Whereas, Aiken County was created by an Act of the General
Assembly on March 10, 1871, which was signed by then Governor
Robert K. Scott; and
Whereas, Aiken County is the now the third largest county in the
State by area and has given to South Carolina throughout its
existence people of integrity, honor, and ability who have
contributed immensely to the growth and development of our State;
and
Whereas, the members of the General Assembly, by this resolution,
would like to publicly recognize and congratulate this truly
wonderful and beautiful county upon its upcoming birthday
celebration. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the Senate, the House of Representatives
concurring:
That the members of the General Assembly hereby congratulate the
County of Aiken and all of its citizens on the occasion of its one
hundred twenty-fifth birthday on March 10, 1996.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to
Ms. Shirley G. Holgate of the Aiken County Quasquicentennial
Committee.
