A BILL
TO RESTORE THE AUTHORITY FOR APPOINTMENTS AND BUDGETARY APPROVALS FOR CERTAIN OFFICES, BOARDS, AND COMMISSIONS TO THE DORCHESTER COUNTY LEGISLATIVE DELEGATION THAT HAD FORMERLY BEEN DEVOLVED TO THE GOVERNING BODY OF DORCHESTER COUNTY.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Upon the effective date of this act, any appointment authority devolved to Dorchester County Council pursuant to Act 512 of 1996 is restored to Dorchester County Legislative Delegation. Unless otherwise directed in the act or code section specifying the manner of appointment by the legislative delegation, appointments made by the Dorchester Legislative Delegation shall be made upon a majority vote of the members of the Senate and a majority vote of the members of the House of Representatives who represent Dorchester County.
The Code Commissioner is empowered and directed to modify any code sections which are inconsistent with this act. Appropriate notations referencing this act shall also be made in the notes following those or any code section in any instance where the Code Commissioner had been previously informed by county council that it had accepted responsibility for making appointments authorized by Act 512 of 1996.
SECTION 2. Act 512 of 1996 is repealed.
SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
