A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO CONGRATULATE THE SCHOOL OFFICIALS, COACHES, AND MEMBERS OF THE PreviousJEFFERSONNext DAVIS ACADEMY "LADY RAIDERS" BASKETBALL TEAM ON THE OCCASION OF THEIR WINNING THE SOUTH CAROLINA INDEPENDENT SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION 2000 CLASS A GIRLS BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIP.

Whereas, teamwork and the cooperative effort by the members of a team to achieve a common goal is absolutely essential to winning in the highly competitive game of basketball; and

Whereas, in addition to natural athletic ability and teamwork, skilled coaching and player dedication are also essential to winning, all of which was evident with the 2000 PreviousJeffersonNext Davis Academy "Lady Raiders" Basketball Team as they defeated Bowman Academy 36-33 to win their second straight "back to back" South Carolina Independent School Athletic Association Class A Girls Basketball Championship; and

Whereas, under the outstanding leadership of Head Coach Robyne Joyner, and as a result of the competitive spirit, teamwork, and excellent performances of team members Alicia Bazemore, Rachel Dyches, Lauren Hall, Kacey Haralson, Kelley PreviousJeffcoatNext, Lee Anne Mazat, Meg Owens, Tara Platts, Cassie Still, and Jill Templeton cinched the Region I-A championship and went on to claim the 1999-2000 conference title; and

Whereas, the successful basketball program at PreviousJeffersonNext Davis Academy would not be possible without the leadership and support of the Trustees of PreviousJeffersonNext Davis Academy, Principal Louis O'Gorman, the staff and faculty, all of whom deserve recognition for their contribution to the success of every aspect of PreviousJeffersonNext Davis Academy; and

Whereas, in recognition of the many hours of practice, hard work, dedication, and sacrifice reflecting the PreviousJeffersonNext Davis Academy girls basketball team winning the 1999 and 2000 South Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association's Class A girls basketball championships "back to back", the members of the House of Representatives wish to publicly recognize and congratulate this outstanding group of young ladies, their coaches, and supporting school officials, upon their tremendous victory and to wish them continued success in the future. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representatives, by this resolution, congratulate the school officials, coaches, and members of the PreviousJeffersonNext Davis Academy girls basketball team on the occasion of their winning the South Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association 2000 Class A Girls Basketball Championship.

Be it further resolved that copies of this resolution be presented to the championship PreviousJefferson Davis Academy girls basketball team.
