 WINNING THE 2004 CLASS AAAA BOYS TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO
 COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION
 THROUGHOUT THEIR SEASON.

TO CONGRATULATE THE RIDGE VIEW HIGH SCHOOL "BLAZERS" BOYS TRACK AND FIELD TEAM IN RICHLAND COUNTY AND HEAD COACH JEFF BUYS ON WINNING THE 2004 CLASS AAAA BOYS TRACK AND FIELD STATE CHAMPIONSHIP AND TO COMMEND THEM FOR THEIR HARD WORK, COMPETITIVE SPIRIT, AND DEDICATION THROUGHOUT THEIR SEASON.

Whereas, being a member of a sports team affords young people the opportunity to learn the skills of cooperation and teamwork while developing superior athletic talents; and

Whereas, track and field competitions give each individual a chance to demonstrate his own personal skills; but to become a championship team, all competitors must have outstanding physical abilities and must utilize all their strengths to the ultimate benefit of the team; and

Whereas, under the leadership of Head Coach Jeff Buys with Assistant Coaches Frank Marrero and Jarred Johnson, the Boys Track and Field Team of Ridge View High School was able to finalize an outstanding season with a trip to the state championship; and

Whereas, on May 8, 2004, they competed in their most important meet of the season defeating teams from across the State; and

Whereas, the Blazers out-scored the Westside High School Rams with a total of 93 1/2 to 89 points and captured the 2004 Class AAAA Boys Track and Field State Championship Title; and

Whereas, the Boys Track and Field Team brought home the first state title for the school which opened in 1995; and

Whereas, the members of this exceptional team are: Damon Bailey, Dominick Bailey, Jonathan Bakutes, Aubrey Darnell, George Fields, Cornelius Harvin, Michael Lance, Rodney Lipscomb, Michael Rhue, John Saffold, Matthew Strick, Thurman Trapp, and Richard Williams; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina General Assembly are proud to pause to recognize the accomplishments of these young athletes and to wish them continued success in their future endeavors. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulate the Ridge View High School "Blazers" Boys Track and Field Team of Richland County and Head Coach Jeff Buys on winning the 2004 Class AAAA Boys Track and Field State Championship and commend them for their hard work, competitive spirit, and dedication throughout their season.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Head Coach Jeff Buys on behalf of the Ridge View High School "Blazers" Boys Track and Field Team.
