Whereas, Union High captured its fifth straight and sixth overall national shooting crown by winning the scholastic category of the 1993 National NRA Junior Three Position Smallbore Rifle Championships; and

Whereas, Union High also won its first National Scholastic Air Rifle Championship; and

Whereas, Union team members included juniors Talmadge Wilkins, IV, and Jeff Vaughan, sophomores Brian Newton and Darren Fowler, and freshman Rob Toney; and

Whereas, with five past National Individual JROTC Championships to its credit, Union won its sixth in the last seven years as Tal Wilkins won the 1993 National Individual JROTC Smallbore Rifle Championships; and

Whereas, Wilkins also won the 1993 National Individual JROTC Air Rifle Championships; and

Whereas, in addition to success on the firing line, the Union High shooting club has won seven NRA President's Awards and seven Most Improved Club Awards -- more than any other of the 15,000 affiliated clubs of the NRA during the same period; and
