 A HOUSE RESOLUTION TO COMMEND RICHLAND COUNTY SHERIFF LEON LOTT FOR PROVIDING
 OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP IN THE AREAS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE
 ISSUES IN RICHLAND COUNTY AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

A HOUSE RESOLUTION

TO COMMEND RICHLAND COUNTY SHERIFF LEON LOTT FOR PROVIDING OUTSTANDING LEADERSHIP IN THE AREAS OF LAW ENFORCEMENT AND QUALITY OF LIFE ISSUES IN RICHLAND COUNTY AND THROUGHOUT THE STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA.

Whereas, a veteran with more than thirty years of law enforcement experience, Sheriff Lott has set a standard of excellence time and again as he rose through the ranks achieving the rank of Captain at the Richland County Sheriff's Department, Police Chief in St. Matthews, and presently Richland County Sheriff; and

Whereas, Sheriff Lott has stood at the forefront of improving the quality of life for the residents of Richland County by performing his duties as the county's chief law enforcement officer in a holistic manner-pursuing safety in the county's communities by preventing and solving crimes by using common sense policing, problem-solving policing, innovation and technology, and by maintaining a high standard of professional accountability for each employee of his department; and

Whereas, the high standards set by Sheriff Lott have led to improved community relations, and high levels of trust among the county's residents for the sheriff and his deputies. These occurrences have led to increased involvement by the citizenry in the department's affairs as well as affairs of the community; and

Whereas, his work with PalmettoPride has improved the lives of the residents of South Carolina through the implementation of advancements in the areas of litter control and quality of life issues; and

Whereas, for these and other efforts undertaken by Sheriff Lott, in 2004 he was named "Sheriff of the Year" by the South Carolina Sheriff's Association, a well-deserved honor; and

Whereas, the members of the House of Representatives are proud to recognize Sheriff Leon Lott for his devotion to the residents of Richland County and the citizens of South Carolina. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives:

That the members of the House of Representative, by this resolution, commend Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott for providing outstanding leadership in the areas of law enforcement and quality of life issues in Richland County and throughout the State of South Carolina.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott.
