A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION
CONGRATULATING THE MARCHING BAND OF MIDLAND VALLEY HIGH SCHOOL OF AIKEN COUNTY ON BEING SELECTED TO BE A REPRESENTATIVE OF SOUTH CAROLINA IN THE 2002 INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE IN WASHINGTON, D.C., JULY 4, 2002.
Whereas, the marching band of Midland Valley High School of Aiken County, "The Pride of the Valley", under the direction of Mr. David Hastings, has been selected to be a representative of South Carolina in the 2002 Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., July 4, 2002; and
Whereas, this is a singular honor inasmuch as only a limited number of very select musical groups from each of the fifty states has been chosen to participate in this parade; and
Whereas, Midland Valley High School's band will reflect and honor America's rich musical and cultural heritage in the nation's capital, and we are very pleased to be able to honor the school and the band in this special manner. Now, therefore,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:
That the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, congratulates the marching band of Midland Valley High School of Aiken County on being selected to be a representative of the Palmetto State in the 2002 Independence Day Parade in Washington, D.C., July 4, 2002.
Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to the Midland Valley High School band, in care of Mr. David Hastings, director, Box 2010, Langley, South Carolina 29834.
