AN ACT TO AMEND ACT 722 OF 1976, AS AMENDED, RELATING TO THE WASHINGTON LIGHT INFANTRY AND SUMTER GUARDS BOARD OF OFFICERS, SO AS TO REVISE THE MANNER IN WHICH THE BOARD IS APPOINTED AND TO DESIGNATE ONE MEMBER TO SERVE AS SECRETARY/TREASURER OF THE BOARD.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

Manner of appointment

SECTION    1.    Section 1 of Act 722 of 1976, as last amended by Act 181 of 1999, is further amended to read:

"Section 1.    The corporation known as 'The Board of Officers of the South Carolina National Guard in the City of Charleston' shall hereafter be known and styled as 'The Washington Light Infantry and Sumter Guards Board of Officers'.

The corporation shall consist of seven board members, three of whom must be appointed by the Commander of the Washington Light Infantry from among its members, three of whom must be appointed by the Commander of the Sumter Guards from among its members, and one of whom must be elected by those six members from among the units' members and shall serve as Secretary/Treasurer of the board. The corporation is declared and confirmed as the successor to 'The Board of Field Officers of the Fourth Brigade, South Carolina Militia', 'The Board of Field Officers, Fourth Brigade, South Carolina Volunteer Troops', 'The Board of Officers of South Carolina Volunteer Troops in the City of Charleston', and 'The Board of Officers of the South Carolina National Guard in the City of Charleston' and all acts done on or after May 7, 1945, by the corporation in its corporate capacity are hereby confirmed and ratified."

Time effective

SECTION    2.    This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
