S. 1026

A SENATE RESOLUTION

TO RECOGNIZE AND HONOR BETTY PLUMB, EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA PreviousARTSNext ALLIANCE, UPON THE OCCASION OF HER RETIREMENT AFTER MORE THAN TWENTY-SEVEN YEARS OF ENTHUSIASTIC AND EXEMPLARY SERVICE, AND TO WISH HER CONTINUED SUCCESS AND HAPPINESS IN ALL HER FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

Whereas, it is altogether fitting and proper that the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina should pause in their deliberations to express their gratitude to Betty Plumb for her significant contributions to the South Carolina PreviousArtsNext Alliance (SCAA) as she retires in 2016; and

Whereas, the state's leading PreviousartsNext policy, advocacy, and service organization, the SCAA is a statewide assembly representing the interest of all PreviousartsNext disciplines, PreviousartsNext organizations, educators, PreviousartsNext administrators, PreviousartistsNext, businesses, and individuals; and

Whereas, during challenging economic times, Ms. Plumb has worked to strengthen the efforts of the PreviousArtsNext Alliance in order to ensure that students have the opportunity to experience quality PreviousartsNext education, regardless of where their school is located or their financial circumstances; and

Whereas, Ms. Plumb has served as project coordinator to help rural, under-served local PreviousartsNext agencies acquire the funding they need; and

Whereas, by helping to build, maintain, and coordinate the PreviousartsNext education advocacy network, she has enabled the SCAA to develop an extensive grassroots base of informed supporters for advocacy of the PreviousartsNext, PreviousartsNext education legislation, and PreviousartsNext funding at the state and federal levels; and

Whereas, with a passionate resolve to see the promotion of the PreviousartsNext throughout the culture, Ms. Plumb served as the past president both of the State PreviousArtsNext Advocacy League of America and of the National Community PreviousArtsNext Network; and

Whereas, her outstanding advocacy for the PreviousartsNext has been recognized through selection as a past winner of the South Carolina PreviousArtNext Education Association's Presidential Award and the Alene Valkanas State PreviousArtsNext Advocacy Award from the Americans for PreviousArtsNext for her dramatic effect on the political landscape through PreviousartsNext advocacy. She was also awarded the Medal of Honor in the PreviousArtsNext from Winthrop University; and

Whereas, the members of the South Carolina Senate are grateful for the years of unparalleled dedication that Betty Plumb has devoted to the South Carolina PreviousArtsNext Alliance and wish her many years of enjoyment in her well-earned retirement. Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the Senate:

That the members of the Senate of the State of South Carolina, by this resolution, recognize and honor Betty Plumb, executive director of the South Carolina PreviousArts Alliance, upon the occasion of her retirement after more than twenty-seven years of enthusiastic and exemplary service, and wish her continued success and happiness in all her future endeavors.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be presented to Betty Plumb.
