A BILL
TO AMEND CHAPTER 23, TITLE 57, CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH
CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 20 SO AS TO
DESIGNATE RIVER ROAD ON JOHNS ISLAND IN CHARLESTON
COUNTY AS "RIVER ROAD SCENIC HIGHWAY".
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 23, Title 57 of the 1976 Code is amended by
adding:
"Article 20
River Road Scenic Highway
Section 57-23-1110. River Road on Johns Island in Charleston
County is designated as a scenic highway. The Department of Highways
and Public Transportation, the Department of Archives and History, and
the Department of Parks, Recreation and Tourism shall cooperate in the
installation of appropriate markers and signs to implement the
designation.
Section 57-23-1120. All off-premises outdoor advertising is
prohibited on `River Road Scenic Highway' after the effective date of
this article. Any off-premises signs existing on the effective date of this
article must be removed within five years of the effective date of this
article."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
