AN ACT TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING SECTION 1-1-615 SO AS TO DESIGNATE FEBRUARY OF EACH YEAR AS AMERICAN HISTORY MONTH AND TO AMEND THE TITLE OF PreviousARTICLENext 9, CHAPTER 1, TITLE 1 TO REFLECT THE ADDED SECTION.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:

History month designated

SECTION 1. PreviousArticleNext 9, Chapter 1, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:

"Section 1-1-615. The month of February in every year is designated American History Month. South Carolinians are encouraged to sponsor and participate in appropriate observances of American History Month."

PreviousArticleNext reentitled

SECTION 2. PreviousArticle 9, Chapter 1, Title 1 of the 1976 Code is reentitled "State Emblems, Pledge to State Flag, Official Observances".

Time effective

SECTION 3. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
