A BILL
TO AMEND THE CODE OF LAWS OF SOUTH CAROLINA, 1976, BY ADDING ARTICLE 101 TO CHAPTER 3, TITLE 56 SO AS TO PROVIDE THAT THE DEPARTMENT OF MOTOR VEHICLES MAY ISSUE UNITED STATES ARMED SERVICES VETERANS SPECIAL LICENSE PLATES.
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the State of South Carolina:
SECTION 1. Chapter 3, Title 56 of the 1976 Code is amended by adding:
"Article 101
United States Armed Services Veterans Special License Plates
Section 56-3-10020. The department may issue special license plates for use on a private passenger motor vehicle, or motorcycle owned or leased by residents of this State which separately honor the United States Army, United States Navy, United States Marines Corps, United States Air Force, and the United States Coast Guard. An application for a special license plate under this section must include official military documentation that shows that the applicant was honorably discharged from the branch of military service that is depicted on the license plate. The biennial fee for the special license plate is the regular motor vehicle license plate fee contained in Article 5, Chapter 3. Only two license plates may be issued to a person."
SECTION 2. This act takes effect upon approval by the Governor.
