 SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF FREDERICK "FRED"
 STROMAN MCKAY OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND EXTENDING THEIR DEEPEST
 SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION

EXPRESSING THE PROFOUND SORROW OF THE MEMBERS OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA GENERAL ASSEMBLY UPON LEARNING OF THE DEATH OF FREDERICK "FRED" STROMAN MCKAY OF MOUNT PLEASANT, SOUTH CAROLINA, AND EXTENDING THEIR DEEPEST SYMPATHY TO HIS FAMILY AND MANY FRIENDS.

Whereas, Frederick "Fred" Stroman McKay born on February 8, 1938, in Charleston, South Carolina, the son of the late Lawrence Edward McKay, Sr., and Beatrice Stroman McKay passed away Sunday, November 4, 2001; and

Whereas, Mr. McKay graduated from Bishop England High School in 1956 and earned a bachelor's degree at The Citadel in 1960 while serving as president of his class and a Master's Degree from the University of South Carolina; and

Whereas, he proudly served his country as a helicopter pilot in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of Captain; and

Whereas, Mr. McKay was a realtor with Properties Plus/Century 21 Real Estate of Mount Pleasant, was the former vice president of Charles C. Blanchard Construction Company and the former vice president of C.W. Blanchard Construction Company, and served as past South Carolina district president of the Charleston Exchange Club; and

Whereas, Fred McKay was an outstanding civic leader, generously dedicating his time and talents to his community and this State while serving as an exemplary role model throughout his tenure in public service. He was involved in numerous endeavors including serving as chairman of the American Cancer Society, chairman of the Charleston Board of Recreation, and chairman of the Mount Pleasant Election Commission and was a member of the Hibernian Society; and

Whereas, he was a member of Christ Our King Catholic Church and is survived by his wife, Helena Blanchard McKay; his mother; a son, Frederick S. McKay, Jr.; a daughter, Helena Elizabeth McKay Fisher; his brother, retired Col. Lawrence E. McKay, Jr.; and six grandchildren; and

Whereas, the South Carolina General Assembly wishes to recognize the life and accomplishments of Frederick "Fred" Stroman McKay and to express their sympathy upon the passing of one of the Palmetto State's favorite sons; Now, therefore,

Be it resolved by the House of Representatives, the Senate concurring:

That the members of the South Carolina General Assembly, by this resolution, express their profound sorrow upon learning of the death of Frederick "Fred" Stroman McKay of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, and extend their deepest sympathy to his family and many friends.

Be it further resolved that a copy of this resolution be forwarded to Mrs. Helena Blanchard McKay of Mount Pleasant, South Carolina.
